The Kings Arms Inn

The location was nice, and breakfast was very good, but our one-night stay was pretty dire. We were a party of seven and ended up one bed short, so one of us had to sleep on an uncomfortable temporary bed. In my room the shower didn't work, possibly because of a broken heater element, and there was no hot water. The bathroom light above the sink was out too. The room was basic and the bed wasn't very comfortable. When you book a room, you'd expect a proper bed and the chance to have a hot shower or bath. The manager seemed to stay out of it, leaving staff without support to put things right promptly. The pub was busy for food, though we had dinner at the other local. With some maintenance and better organisation, this could be top notch, but it was far from that for us.

A lovely spot to eat or stay, kept in good shape and set in a beautiful location. We got a warm welcome, and the staff were friendly and really helpful.

After visiting the beautiful Montacute House, we stopped in for a quick lunch. The food was freshly made and tasty, and the prices felt reasonable for such a touristy area. My husband really enjoyed his fish finger sandwich, made with a homemade fillet in batter rather than shop bought fish fingers. Even with the staff busy during lunch, the service was friendly and efficient. We'd happily come back and recommend it. Thank you.

The Ploughman's was absolutely fabulous, and my husband loved his fish finger ciabatta. We came in for lunch during a St Michael's hill and Montacute House walk, and found a homely pub with a nice buzz from being busy. The staff were attentive and chatty, and the lady serving us suggested some other walks. A gem of a bank Holiday lunch. We'll certainly return if we're in that area again. Thank you ☺️
