Chandlers Cottage

Parking took a bit of planning because the nearby roads are narrow and spaces are limited. We used Greenfoot car park behind the cottage, reached by a nearby path. It’s pay and display, but saved the stress of looking for a closer spot. We paid about £15 for our week-long stay. Once parked, there’s lots to do in Settle on foot, though expect some hills going to and from the centre. For farther trips, the B6480 and A65 are close, with routes towards Skipton, the Lakes and beyond. Settle station is also on the famous Settle to Carlisle line. The cottage itself is beautiful, at the top of Victoria Street on the Pennine Bridleway, and only a short walk from central Settle. Modern decor sits nicely alongside its historic character. Downstairs, there’s a large, bright lounge with a huge window, plus a spacious kitchen and dining area with modern appliances, including a dishwasher. A stable door opens onto a terrace garden with patio furniture and pleasant views. Upstairs there’s a good-sized master bedroom with en suite, a second bedroom for two, and another bathroom with a luxurious freestanding tub. The loft bedroom also sleeps two, but watch your head. I’d highly recommend staying here for a family adventure or a couples retreat.

The homemade cake waiting on arrival was a lovely touch. The place was spotless and nicely appointed, and I’d highly recommend it for a break in this beautiful area. Thanks for a great stay!
