The Old Stores

Ruth was a wonderful host, and the breakfasts were superb, with so much attention to detail. We had the best stay ever. If you’re after a luxurious, classy B&B, the Old Stores is the place. We’ll definitely be back!

Ruth is a fantastic host, and this is the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in.

The dining room has a view over historic Montgomery, and there’s a good range of breakfast choices, along with the usual tea, coffee, and toast. Our host was warm, helpful, and happy to welcome guests into her beautiful home. It’s an ideal spot if you like traditional touches and comfort. We were greeted at the door and invited to leave our walking boots and poles in the hall before going upstairs. The rooms are spacious, with tasteful antiques, big comfortable beds, lovely linen, and traditional Welsh blankets. I spotted the Welsh cakes in a little jar, and they were the best I’ve ever tasted. There’s a kettle, fresh milk, and other things for hot drinks, plus a fridge in a walk-in cupboard. The bathrooms feel modern and luxurious, with all the essentials. There’s also a large, comfortable drawing room with a distinct Middle Eastern feel.

Fabulous! The bathroom was amazing, the bed comfortable, and the Welsh cakes were a lovely touch. Breakfast had fine ingredients, right down to the homemade marmalade, which we bought a jar of. Ruth was warm and welcoming, and the period property was cosy, well maintained, and tastefully decorated. We’ll definitely return.
