The staff were the highlight of my two weeks at Village Hotel Newcastle, from reception to housekeeping. Kath kept breakfast running smoothly and always had time for a bit of chat, and gorgeous Nina was a ray of sunshine. Good breakfast selection, clean, well-kept rooms and a fantastic gym. I’ll join when I move back! The pool looked great, though I didn’t use it this time. It’s a nice building in a convenient location, and the parking is ample and easy. One question mark: there’s no fridge in the room. I also don’t think there’s a designated smoking area, since people were always smoking at the main, and only, entrance. This is my home city, though I’ve been living away for almost two years.

We were very happy with our stay and will come back. The location worked well for the different places we wanted to visit, and there was adequate parking. Our club room was comfortable, though very warm even with the beater off and the windows open. Breakfast was nice, but stopping service at 9am on weekdays felt early for people taking a break. We didn’t use the gym or pool, though as a former member at another location I know the facilities will be very good.

The food selection was good from what I tried, and my club room included gym access. It was an ideal location for work that week. The surrounding area is very quiet, though, and the hotel is a few miles from the city centre.

The room was average, neither impressive nor awful, and the facilities were usable. Everything else was fine but forgettable. The toilet was visibly cracked, which made sitting on it feel risky. The room did its job, but nothing made me keen to return. Village Hotel Newcastle Silverlink is in an industrial park among car showrooms. Having to pay for parking there feels like a crime, especially when it isn’t a city centre hotspot. It wasn’t a bad stay, just not special. The kind of place you sleep in, then move on from without much to say.

Kath deserves a special mention. She was experienced, kept an eye on everything, and made sure guests got prompt, friendly and helpful service whenever she was on duty. She even remembered our names and that we’d visited before. We had a very pleasant stay for the Jazz Party at the end of October. The room was clean, quiet and pleasant, and the service stayed courteous, helpful and friendly even when things were busy. Breakfast was good. You can ask for poached or fried eggs and they’ll make them to order and bring them to your table. Scrambled eggs were available too, but weren’t made fresh to order and came served at once, so they were a bit solid. The evening bar got busy. More staff and a less confusing queue system might help people trying to order drinks.
