The bathroom was spotless, recently renovated, and worked perfectly. My room was warm during my early June stay, though that’s the trade-off for a heritage building without air conditioning. I was fortunate to get a room with historical significance, which made the stay even more memorable. The Jockey Club Rooms have real character and a strong connection to British racing history, something a modern hotel can’t easily replicate. Breakfast was better than I expected, and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. If you care more about history and authentic charm than modern luxury, it’s a unique place to stay in Newmarket.

We loved being able to walk to Thai Kitchen for dinner, and the High Street location also makes this a handy base for Cambridge or Suffolk. Parking is free, and the prices felt surprisingly accessible for such an old-world English setting. Our deluxe room looked over the beautifully kept gardens. The Colefax & Fowler fabrics and classic equestrian art gave the place a timeless, heritage feel. The bathroom was enormous, almost bigger than the bedroom. We also enjoyed champagne in the private members’ bar, a rare privilege for overnight guests. Breakfast in the grand dining room was easily the best hotel breakfast I’ve had, with everything from eggs Benedict and eggs Royal to kippers and pancakes. A traditional, sophisticated stay with comfort and understated luxury.

From start to finish, our wedding day felt magical. The venue was like something from a fairytale, exactly what we’d dreamed of, and our guests had a fantastic time. Everything ran so smoothly because Gregg, Charlotte, and the whole Jockey Club Rooms team managed and coordinated the day with such care and professionalism. We felt looked after throughout and could relax and enjoy it all. We can’t thank them enough, and would recommend the Jockey Club Rooms to any couple without hesitation. Gemma & Ashley

The rooms were clean and spacious, with loads of character and charm. There’s plenty of parking, the customer service is great, and breakfast was divine. It’s right on Newmarket High Street, but you’d never realise it was there.

The building is stunning, with wonderful artifacts, right in the town centre. We had a very pleasant night in a beautiful room and the breakfast was excellent.
