Balavil Hotel

The dinner was amazing, and the staff gave great service, especially one waiter whose name we think was dave. My partner and I came for a little getaway and couldn’t have been happier. Our room was cosy and suited the atmosphere of the whole hotel. There were plenty of people in the bar area, and we had the pool to ourselves. We’d go back in a heartbeat and definitely recommend it.

The staff were so helpful and friendly when our 8yo needed refrigerated medicine. After we explained the situation at reception, they gave us a small portable fridge and stored our freezer block in their freezer each night. We can’t thank them enough. My husband, our 8yo and I stayed from 27th-29th December, and all three of us loved this little gem. Our room was spacious for three, very clean and warm, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was something we looked forward to as soon as we woke up. The location also made it easy to visit lovely spots like Cairngorm mountain and Loch Ness. We hope to come back for Hogmanay next time.

We were exhausted after hours on the road, and everyone greeted us warmly when we arrived at the Balavil Hotel. Storm Amy had thrown our plans off, so finding this place ended up being one of the best parts of our trip. Dinner was wonderful comfort food that brought our grandmothers’ cooking to mind. The staff were friendly and professional, and there was even live music in the bar. The rooms were cosy and the atmosphere was great. If I make it back to Scotland, I’ll stay here again. I’ll remember the kindness and comfort we found at the Balavil Hotel.

We ate at the restaurant both nights of our two-night stay, and the food was excellent. It was traditional, simple cooking done deliciously. The steak pie was spot on, and all the desserts were perfect. Even with the dining room packed each night, we never felt rushed and the service moved at a great pace. Everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. The room had a spacious, charming Scottish feel, with a fully modern refurbished bathroom and a superb shower. The beds were very comfortable. It was 7 degrees outside in August, but the hotel had the heating on, so we were warm and felt at home. Brilliant stay, and we’ll definitely return.
