The staff across reception, housekeeping, the bar, and breakfast were all welcoming and helped make our two nights feel relaxed. The room was a good size, spotless, nicely presented, and very comfortable, with lovely toiletries. Breakfast was delicious, and the team kept everything available while looking after guests attentively. Great location too. Thanks to everyone, you're doing a great job.

The staff really made the stay, especially receptionist Pip, who went out of her way to sort out a small question about our room. She and everyone else were so friendly and helpful. We had a comfortable, warm room with a nice bathroom and facilities, and the hotel is right in the centre. We were lucky enough to get a parking space. The bar was comfortable and breakfast was great too. We plan to come back later in the year and will book here again.

The corridor lights were flickering, but everything else was good and I'd still give it five stars. The room, bed, toilet, and shower were a good size. There's a gym, though we didn't use it, and a restaurant downstairs that looked fine, but we didn't try it.

The food was very good, breakfast especially, and service in the kitchen and bar was great. The hotel was clean with fresh bed linen, and the hand soap and shampoo in the bathrooms were good quality. Our super king bed was comfortable, if a little hard. The location is handy for the minster and main shops, though on-site parking is very limited and expensive. There's free parking about a 20-minute walk away. The rooms felt a bit tired: one toilet only just flushed, the showers were weak, and some decorating is needed. We asked reception three times about a toilet that wouldn't flush in one of our party's rooms, and it was fixed the next day. Broadband in our room was poor, only 5 meg, which seems like an easy thing to improve these days. I'd stay again, but it feels like the hotel is at a crossroads, with major decorating work needed.
