The Cookie Jar

After a cold, rainy journey to Alnwick, my fiancée and I arrived at The Cookie Jar tired and hungry for a short break. We'd picked this beautiful boutique hotel, a former convent right in the town centre. There's free parking outside, and the building looked stunning as we came in, with a welcoming light by the front door. Inside, a lovely little sitting area caught our eye. Lynn, the manager, greeted us with such a friendly, bubbly welcome and made us feel at home straight away. She explained what we needed to know and walked us to our room. It was beautiful and huge, with stained-glass windows, a very large bed dressed in soft, quality linen, and the biggest freestanding bath I've ever seen. The shower was large too, and the soaps and shower gels were good quality. There were homemade Cookie Jar cookies beside the kettle, a lovely surprise with our tea or coffee. Everywhere was immaculate, from the guest lounge and dining room to reception, without a speck of dust. The hotel felt warm and homely, and we were so pleased with our choice. The Cookie Jar is more than a hotel and restaurant, it leaves you with wonderful memories and makes you want to plan another visit. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The staff were really friendly, and they even washed and dried my muddy running gear. We loved the decor, and our room and bed were spacious and comfortable. All the cooked breakfast options were superb. The hotel is right by the castle's main entrance. We were glad to park in front, though that may not be possible for everyone when the hotel is full. A terrific midweek stay at The Cookie Jar. Highly recommended.

Really special place, everything was thought through down to the smallest detail, even a gift for our dog. It's very well set up for people with mobility issues, with a lift and no stairs to the Bistro. The service, rooms, food and decor were perfect. We'll certainly be back. Thank you!

We had a long weekend at The Cookie Jar that turned out to be a surprise engagement getaway, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The hotel is gorgeous, homely but still luxurious and high-end, and the whole team were lovely. The food was 1000/10, with breakfast and dinner each worth going for on their own. Honestly, we couldn't fault it or recommend it more. It's our new favourite place, and we'll be back every year. Thank you!
