Premier Inn Northwich - Sandiway

My mam and I stayed overnight while travelling down for a funeral. I wanted to leave the car at the hotel and get a taxi to the wake, but it was going to take about 30 minutes to arrive. Bridget was finishing work and didn’t know the area we were headed to, but still offered to drive us herself. She went above and beyond to make sure we got there. Thank you so much. From the reviews I’ve read, it sounds like she really is an amazing lady and part of a great team.

I’ve stayed at plenty of Premier Inns and never had a problem before, so this visit left me baffled and upset. At check-in, Sarah at reception was rude and insisted that we had to give our nationality because it was “the law.” She kept pressing the point after we questioned it. My partner is Black British, and the exchange felt discriminatory and uncomfortable. At one point she slammed the pen on the counter. There was no professionalism in how she treated us, and it ruined the stay. I raised it with the manager the next morning. They listened and were appreciative of our concerns, but said Sarah can seem rude and blunt and is “working on it.” I’m still left wondering whether someone with that manner should be in a customer-facing job. I’ve stayed in many hotels and never been asked my nationality. If it is required by law, the staff, or perhaps just Sarah, need customer relations and diversity training as soon as possible. 🙃

It’s okay, though the place is showing its age. Ask for Mary if you want good service. Breakfast was odd, like it was at another place. We arrived at 9 and it was closed!

Mary at reception was a star, so warm and welcoming and made my visit really pleasant. I’ve stayed at plenty of Premier Inns before, and this one could do with a makeover in the rooms. The location is ideal.
