The pub's a cosy spot, with a log fire and comfortable seats. We ate there on our second night. The menu was a little more limited than at most pubs, and the food was OK. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and cosy. It was December, and being able to control the heating was a real plus. The hairdryer didn't work and the shower had no water, but the friendly, efficient staff sorted both issues quickly. There's parking for guests, and although our room was beside a main road, traffic noise was very slight. It's just a short walk to the main part of town, so the location was convenient. A pleasant place for a short Cotswolds break.

We spent 24 hours here, staying over and having food and drinks. The room was fine and had what we needed, and the bar was clean with nice tables. There's a good beer garden for an afternoon, and town is a pleasant 5 min walk away. Staff were friendly and pretty good all round. Food gets a 3, decent if you want basic bar food. They had 5-6 real ales, though the Otter Bitter was past its sale by date and off. I know a lot about real ale. Two of the others were nice. We were charged different prices for the same drinks at the bar, and the room carpet needs a proper clean, maybe replacing. Otherwise, good.

The staff were polite and friendly, which was the only positive for me. I ordered the 'Aromatic Garden Burger - £18, served in Brioche Style Bun. with Lettuce, Tomato & Burger Sauce, with Fries & Slaw'. It was vegan, and I chose the gluten-free option. When it arrived without a bun, that meant less food for the same price, and there was no alternative in place of the gluten-containing item as the offer implied. The vegetable burger, the sort I could buy in a pack of 4 at the supermarket for £3, came on one slice of tomato and one leaf of little gem lettuce, with a small serving of chips. It filled a hole, but it wasn't an £18 meal, and I have nothing positive to say about the food. It was an overpriced rip off. TBH, I'm truly surprised they had the cheek to charge that much, and I wouldn't bother again.

The barmaid said the ale was supposed to taste that way, even after I told her my pint was sour. She insisted the barrel had just been changed. I politely asked for another pint and was told I'd have to pay for it, so the £12 my friend and I spent on two pints bought me one drink. I declined. The customer service was appalling, and I'd recommend readers avoid this place.

We had a lovely stay at TROT. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly. The pub food was tasty too. One thing for other guests to bear in mind: there was an event at the pub one evening, and it got a bit noisy.
