Namaste Palace Hotel

I’ve stayed a few times while working in Norwich. It’s clean and tidy, and conveniently close to both the station and city centre. It’s good enough. I’d suggest getting a private bathroom, though that’s just my personal preference.

I pulled back the duvet and found crumbs, pubic hair, skid marks and stains on the sheet over the mattress. I took a photo. A budget price doesn’t excuse this level of hygiene or treating guests like vermin. The place should meet basic UK standards, and this is unacceptable. I don’t know how local authorities haven’t shut it down. People giving the hotel 4 or 5 stars should have some self-respect. Many of those five-star reviews seem to be for the Indian restaurant downstairs, which has a separate Google listing, not the hotel upstairs. That’s propped up the hotel’s rating massively and incorrectly.

I arrived at 9:30pm after travelling for work and was told I could get a refund and leave if I didn’t like the place. I was very disappointed. The rooms were cold, with single-glazed windows that let in street noise and noise from the restaurant kitchen below. The walls between rooms were so thin I could hear conversations. The bedding was filthy, with what looked like piss stains and even blood patches, so check under the sheets. Shared bathrooms were dirty, with hair in the showers and stains around the toilets. Avoid if you can.

The people were nice, but the hotel was disgusting. There was hair and dirt on the bedding, dust everywhere and stains in the shower and bathroom. It didn’t smell nice either. They really need to improve the cleaning, because this felt like a biohazard. I’ve stayed in lots of affordable places that were reasonably clean, but this one was so dirty. I felt disgusting sleeping in a bed with dust and hair on it.
