The Georgian Townhouse

I'm staying here now. The place is lovely and the food was great, and the female staff have been really caring. But the barman completely ignored me, even though there was only one other person at the bar and they'd already been served. That was rude. The hotel feels a little tired in places.

The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and the service was friendly and attentive without hovering. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. The food was delicious, and we'd happily eat here again.

My friend's birthday treat for me turned into a mess. She'd booked the table a month in advance and called a few days before to arrange a cake, but heard nothing back about it. When we arrived, the table had been cancelled. The man at the lecture desk was unsympathetic and suggested we'd cancelled, then told us to find him again in 40 minutes. The bar staff seemed stressed and were rude. We waited 45 minutes before giving up. My friend had travelled two hours for this special occasion, and nobody even apologized, as if they still assumed they weren't at fault, even though we could prove it. The customer service was very poor, and the atmosphere felt stressed and unprofessional. I'm glad we didn't end up with a table, and I won't recommend the place.

The receptionist kindly arranged a room with a tub and upgraded me to the lovely St Giles suite in the Georgian Apartments this evening, 9th Feb. The styling blew me away. It felt like stepping back in time, and made my day. Thank you for going out of your way to help.
