The NNUH Cardiology Christmas Party for 70 guests was a fantastic evening at Oaklands on 13 December. The room’s mix of table sizes gave it a restaurant feel. The food was tasty and came out without a hitch, and the staff were welcoming, kind and professional. The Christmas DJ was just right. We’d definitely come back.

We had a Christmas meal and overnight stay with a large party. The food was lovely, and the vegan and celiac guests were catered for and really enjoyed their meals. The staff seemed rushed off their feet but were still good fun. The Oak Bar has a nice range of drinks at reasonable prices, and our room was clean and well equipped. We’ll definitely return.

We had Sunday lunch here today, and it was a lovely experience all round. The food was excellent and really tasty, especially the beautiful Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. The staff were friendly and polite.

We were very disappointed with lunch today. I ordered lasagna and waited around 25 minutes, which was fine. When it arrived, parts were burnt and it was dry. It didn’t even fill the small dish it came in, and there was only a tiny bit of salad on the side. The waitress saw it and offered to get me another, but my partner already had his different meal and I didn’t want to wait any longer. When we paid, no goodwill gesture was offered despite the poor food and the waitress having seen it. Maybe we just caught the chef on a bad day.

The Lodge was warm and comfortable, with a well-equipped, spacious living room and a separate bedroom. Emma gave excellent service at reception. The bar had a great stock and a good wine selection. I liked the village feel of this part of Norwich, and I’ll be back.
