We left after the first night because we had serious safety concerns and couldn't get a response from the owner. The room wouldn't lock from inside, the handle was very loose, and its lock code was the same as the main hallway door. Neither the front entrance nor hallway door had a handle to pull it shut, so either could stay ajar and let anyone in. We barricaded our door for the night. Scratches across the floor made it look like we weren't the first to do that. In the morning we checked into the hotel around the corner. I complained to booking.com and asked for a refund, but they're difficult to reach too. The room was in unacceptable condition for £170 a night. The door handle was broken, the TV remote smashed, the blind broken, the window insecure, and there was no mattress. Three mattress toppers aren't a mattress. The toiletries were nice and the location was good, but it hadn't been cleaned properly: the cups still had tea stains. The hairdryer had a PAT testing sticker from 2022, even though it should be tested annually.

We booked Henry’s for a Christmas getaway and were told they'd send a door code and that we should share our likely arrival time. When the email never came, we contacted them to check the code and arrival time, but heard nothing. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and went to the property anyway. Still no response, and the phone number was out of service. With no way to contact anyone, we had to find somewhere else to stay. I can't understand the ratings this place has. It looks to me like the business may have closed without being removed from booking sites. Either way, avoid it. It feels like a scam.

We arrived the day before the Oxford half marathon and couldn't get into the building. When we called the number on the booking confirmation, we were told the room had been double-booked and booking.com hadn't notified them of our reservation. They said they had no other rooms, so my partner and I had to find somewhere else at the last minute, when almost every hotel within three miles of the city centre was full. They didn't even apologise, just told us to take it up with booking.com, which is incredibly hard to reach. Now I'm trying to get the money back through booking.com or my card provider. This place feels like a complete scam, especially since other reviews describe the same thing. I can't understand why it has four stars on Google and decent reviews on booking.com. Avoid it at all costs.

We had a great stay in this cute old building, renovated into three flats. The location is right in the middle of Oxford, which was amazing. We hadn't received the entry code before we arrived and had to call reception, but everything worked out. Highly recommend for a short city stay.

We were extremely disappointed when we arrived at Henry’s. The entrance is in disrepair, and I don't see how this could count as four-star accommodation. The bed was very hard and squeaked whenever we moved. Under the pad, the mattress was yellow and stained, with just a topper over it. The window was cracked, had no screen, and was open when we got there. If we'd known, we wouldn't have booked.
