Lonsdale Guest House

It was an okay stay, though the bathroom was very small and a bit uncomfortable to use. There was an unpleasant smell, and the walls looked dirty, which took away from the comfort. Better cleaning and maintenance could make this a better option for a short visit.

Shops, cafes and pubs are all within about a five-minute walk. Oxford centre is easy to reach by bus in 15 minutes, and it’s also walkable if you don’t mind a longer trip. Our double room looked onto the garden and was clean and quiet. I can’t speak for the other rooms in the property.

It was quiet at night, and the bus connection was good. There’s limited free parking. The place is very clean, with friendly people, and it’s near shops and restaurants, close to the city centre and a short walk from Jericho.

I thought this was going to be a hotel, but it felt more like a low-budget Airbnb. The room was okay, though it had a shared bathroom, so check the listing carefully. I think the room descriptions are deliberately confusing, and the same thing happened to other people. Cleanliness could be better too, especially on the appalling staircase.
