Knockaloe Beg Farm

The community breakfasts were a highlight, and I enjoyed meeting the lovely people there. The farmhouse was charming and comfortable, with beautiful gardens and views. Everything is green organically and used in the meals, and there are lots of animals around, including pigs, sheep, chickens, a donkey and even a Manx cat or two. I also appreciated having clotheslines, since I needed to hand wash clothes for the rest of my journey. I chose Knockaloe Beg Farm because I could walk to the Knockaloe Prison Museum, where I had a legacy interview about my grandfather. Katherine was very helpful with the arrangements and changes before my visit. Jen went out of her way to handle my meal and other needs, and she was a wonderful cook, especially with her red curry. Caleb was attentive and helpful at mealtime too. A lovely experience, and I recommend it.

The breakfast was tasty, and Jen served it with a friendly, helpful manner. Sharing the table and chatting with the other guests was even better. The farmhouse was clean and comfortable, with spacious rooms, very comfortable beds and nice goose down bedding. Guests could use the living rooms and equipment such as wellies, flasks and umbrellas, and there were drinks and homemade flapjacks too. Little touches like an emergency toiletries case in the bathroom were much appreciated. There was a good range of teas and coffees in each room, plus sherry and port. Knockaloe Beg is in a beautiful spot, with easy access west to Peel and the coastal path. I liked the place's effort to use locally or ethically sourced products and support environmentally friendly initiatives where possible. I'd put it at the top of my list for a future visit.

The hot tub made the stay, once I got the hang of the log burner. There was plenty of wood, and our wigwam was clean, tidy, cosy and had everything we needed. We slept like babies, so the bed gets a thumbs up. We went for our 10 year anniversary, and the setting and location were just right for the couple's break we wanted. We had a great time.

We had a really big room that was clean and tidy, and breakfast was great too. One morning John took my wife and me to feed the animals, which was fun and really informative. John, Fiona and the rest of their crew were excellent hosts. Fantastic place to stay, and we'd definitely come back.
