We were staying nearby and called in to find somewhere for dinner. The three of us tried belly pork, scampi and steak pie, and every meal was absolutely lovely. We liked it enough to eat there again two days later. The St Austell bitter was good too. We didn’t stay here, but if the rest of the place is as good as the food, it’ll be good.

The carvery at the Coach & Horses was so good that I don’t think I’ve ever had a better one. My wife had beef and I chose belly pork. They load you up with meat and vegetables before serving, and my portion was massive. I couldn’t finish the pork, so I brought some home and my dog got a real treat. The roast potatoes were perfect, crisp outside and soft and fluffy inside. There was cauliflower cheese, carrots, swede, leek and cabbage, plus a huge Yorkshire pudding. We still found room for sticky toffee pudding, which was delicious. My wife had a Pinot Grigio, and I had a pint of the guest ale, Reverend James, a Welsh beer brewed by Brains.

We had a lovely time at Sunday lunch today. The food was good, and the service was excellent, attentive without getting in our way. I’d highly recommend it. Thank you!

We’d have no hesitation about coming back when we’re here next year, or recommending this place. The prices were more than fair for the quality and quantity of food, and the pub and restaurant were clean, tidy and tastefully decorated. The staff were friendly, polite, helpful and courteous. The food came quickly and was second to none. I had scampi with homemade triple-dipped chips; my partner had belly pork with seasonal vegetables and mash. She loved it so much that she sent her compliments to the chef, which I’ve never seen her do before. It was a perfect experience. If I could give it more stars, I would.

We’d booked a table a week ahead for Sunday roast and specifically asked for the same one we’d reserved for the previous two weeks, in the bar near the fire. We arrived five minutes early and found someone else had taken it. Staff said the other customers were comfortable there. There wasn’t much of an apology, and we were really annoyed and disappointed. We went to the Atlantic Inn in Porthleven instead. They couldn’t have been more accommodating, and I have to say their roast was much better than the Coach and Horses. 😡😡🤬🤬
