CRAIGVRACK HOTEL AND RESTAURANT

We stayed one night at Craigvrack Hotel. The room was clean and cosy, though a little small, and the hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Pitlochry town centre. Free parking is available on site, and having an Indian restaurant in the hotel was handy. Check-in at 4pm felt inconvenient. Breakfast was described as complimentary, but we paid extra for a breakfast-included rate through Booking.com. We didn’t ask the staff about it at the time, and assumed only a basic continental breakfast came with the room.

We were unsure about breakfast after reading some negative comments and couldn’t find details on the options, but it turned out to be a lovely surprise. There was plenty of tea, coffee, juice, toast, jam and cereal, as well as Scottish breakfast and omelets. Everything was delicious, and the view from the breakfast room was stunning. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was quiet despite being full, and the room was very clean and as described on the websites. It’s an easy walk to the main street if you’re fit enough. Great location and views. I’d definitely stay here again.

The breakfast was freshly made and very good, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our small double was booked as a small double, so the room being small was expected. The bed was comfy, and the room was warm and clean. My only criticism is that there’s no proper lounge bar. The bar opens with the adjoining Indian restaurant, but the space feels more like a waiting area.

The chicken curry special was phenomenal, and it’s easy to see why this is rated Scotland’s best Indian restaurant. Aniket, the bartender, looked after everyone so well and knew a lot about local Pitlochary whisky. Service was impeccable and the rooms were spotless. A 10/10 stay, and I’d highly recommend a visit to the bar and restaurant even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
