OYO Plymouth Central Hotel

Most of the night staff are lovely and I have no problem with them, but the day staff have been ruder to us guests. I was placed here by the council, and on my first day there were groups outside drinking and smoking. I complained about the weed smell. The young worker, who I believe was called Cerys, was on her phone talking to people. When I asked if she was on mute so I could speak with her, she laughed. I asked her to show me she was on mute, and she refused. I keep seeing this worker outside smoking and on some livestream. I'm speaking to the council about three individual workers at oyo. The breakfast was disgusting, and they limit how many pancakes you can have.

On our first day, other people staying there told us to watch for drug addicts in the hallways and outside the main entrance. The hallways smelled damp and unclean, with a strong weed smell and other strange odours. Reception said they couldn't do anything because it travelled through the vents, so you had to smell it day and night. The kettle was absolutely disgusting. A staff member told me people had cooked in them before because there wasn't enough equipment. Our room was unsanitary, especially with an infant staying there too. Staff were rude and very unprofessional. After I complained, I heard them being rude about me, saying I should leave if I couldn't deal with it and making fun of me for speaking up. Worst place I've stayed. The price they charge is stupid, so don't waste your money or time here!

The room was overpriced and very uncomfortable, and I can't get a refund. The hotel smelled of weed and made me feel sick. It was too noisy to sleep. One star. This hotel needs an inspection. I want a refund but can't get one. Terrible service. I don't recommend it unless you enjoy drugs and an uncomfortable bed.

The location right in the middle of town was perfect, and the two big rooms we ended up with were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, even after a major overbooking issue led to several rooms being cancelled, including two of ours. We worked out a solution and still got beds in the two large rooms that hadn't been cancelled. In short, book directly through OYO rather than a travel agent or third party.
