Prospect House

The location and view were lovely, and we enjoyed breakfast, but for the price we felt some small touches were missing. Our room was extremely small with nowhere for luggage, and there wasn’t a socket by the tea tray, so we had to boil the kettle on the floor. There was no bottled water either. The bathroom was generally clean, but the sink had a huge crack. The shower pressure was weak, the foot tray didn’t drain, and there was no slip mat in or outside the shower, making it slippery to get out. The decor is very dated. Cleanliness was okay over our two-night stay.

The location is great, and the landlady is lovely. We stayed three nights in a cosy room with a really comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good, with cereals and juices followed by a lovely cooked breakfast. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it.

Everything is an easy walk from here, and the service was very good. I’ve just come back from a short two-day stay and would happily stay again. Highly recommend it.

Alva was so accommodating during our four-day holiday. After being out all day, the very comfortable beds were a welcome rest, and there was plenty of hot water for showers. We had a beautiful view from the third floor too. Breakfast was generous and tasty, with cooked food, cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit, juice, tea and coffee on offer every day.
