Travelodge Preston Central

After generally having pretty good stays with Travelodge, this one was a letdown. I think someone from head office should visit. We spent one night here during a holiday, and the hotel needs a complete revamp. There was debris on the floor, stains on the carpet and ceilings, and the hallways and lifts were dirty. The rooms weren’t very clean either.

The lift was disgusting when we left, someone had thrown up in it. The hotel smelled of sick throughout, including in our room. We arrived at 10pm on Thursday and only stayed because we needed a break on a long drive south. The area didn’t feel safe. Parking was awful and you have to pay for it. Poles all over the car park made parking and manoeuvring difficult. There’s a reason it’s so cheap, and none of the reasons are good. Avoid at all costs.

Parking was the main hassle. There are two levels, but it’s very tight around the posts, and judging by their condition they’ve been hit a lot. The hotel is about a mile from the city centre, across from Lidl, with a few takeaways nearby. I didn’t try any of them. The location was okay. I stayed here on 12/10/26. The room was good overall, with clean bedding, a kettle and tea and coffee facilities, though it needed a proper dusting. I’d stay again.

The bathroom fan never switched off, leaving the bathroom cold and constantly pulling the warm air out of the main room. We had to cover the vent and put a towel under the bathroom door to block the noise. There was no liquid soap in the dispenser in the replacement room either. Our first room had someone in it already, so we had to be moved. Not a good experience.
