The restaurant stood out during my stays. Gregg cooked an exceptional evening meal, and breakfast was a great start to the day. I’ve spent two nights a week here on business for nearly three months, each time in a different room, and the staff and manager have always been helpful, professional and polite. I’ve stayed at plenty of Premier Inns around the UK, and some are much better than others. This one, in central Bury St Edmunds, is consistently clean. I’d usually spot dust by the hair dryer or soap scum around the dispenser, but I haven’t found that here. There have been a lot of disappointing changes at Premier Inn over the last few years, but this one still delivers the quality of service I’ve come to expect.

The team here are lovely, always friendly and ready to help. The rooms are more or less standard for Premier Inn, but this one is right in the town centre, about a ten-minute walk from everything. Walk past the cathedral and you’re on your way. There’s car parking available for a fee, which is understandable. I’d recommend it.

Breakfast was great, and everything in my room worked. It was clean too. The paid parking is good, and the hotel is close to the city centre, making this one of the better Premier Inns I’ve stayed at lately. You can get alcohol in the evening, though nothing is on draft, which was a letdown. Very good overall.

Check-in was quick, and my room was clean with everything I needed. It had both a shower and a bath, which was good. The location also works well for exploring Bury St Edmunds. I was very happy with my stay.

The location is great and the room was clean, but I had an awful night because the landing door outside my room banged every time someone went through it. Why can’t Premier Inn put soft-close doors in the bedroom areas? At £100 for a night like that, never again. No wonder they got rid of the good night guarantee.
