Mercure Stratford Upon Avon Shakespeare Hotel

The staff were pleasant and accommodating, and our room in the old part of the hotel was lovely, with attractive beams. We were glad to find air conditioning in the warm weather, as well as a fridge, iron and ironing board. Breakfast was nice, though the eggs dried out under the heat lamps. I'd have preferred them cooked to order. We thought £15 for overnight parking was way too expensive. Even so, it was a lovely stay.

The hotel is in a great spot for everything, and I loved the atmosphere and the age of the place. There are lots of nice little books and crannies. Our bed was comfy, housekeeping came every day, and the staff were friendly and helpful. In the evening, you can get a drink from the bar, then settle into one of the seating areas. I had a Jameson, my daughter had a pot of tea, and we played with some of the table games, like cards or dominoes. Delightful, and I'd definitely come back.

Great central location, with the hotel car park nearby around the corner. The room was comfortable, the bedding immaculate, and the bathroom gleaming, with fixed toiletries. It also had an ironing board, iron, hairdryer and fridge, plus a tea and coffee maker. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was superb, buffet style with an amazing choice of hot and cold food. The carpet under the desk was a bit threadbare, but you must “look at the flowers and not the broken fence!!”

The beds were so comfortable that we slept really well, and the room itself was really nice. The floors creak a bit, but that's expected in such an old building. Downstairs there were good rooms to sit and relax with a drink, the staff were nice to us, and breakfast had a good choice. The only downsides were that the toilet in our bathroom needed several flushes, as did the one downstairs, and there wasn't enough tea, sugar, coffee or milk. We also paid a hell of a lot more than the price we'd been given when we got there.
