Bow Guest House

I’ve been travelling around the UK for four years, and nowhere has given me a better experience. It’s a gem, with the room feeling private, Uber Eats working fine so I could collect at my door, and complimentary breakfast that I really liked. There was a variety of food I enjoyed. I also liked that it was in the middle of nowhere. It’s a kink of mine, hehe.

I’d had some doubts after reading the older reviews, but once I stayed, I found the place comfortable and nice. There’s free Wi-Fi and a delicious breakfast, and the owner and staff are all very friendly.

I only needed a bed and a shower for an overnight stop, and Bow House was a relief after seeing the prices of other rooms nearby. It’s much more reasonably priced and offers lovely service. The owners are lovely too, attentive without hovering. Genuinely worth every penny.

The room wasn’t serviced at all, apart from someone sweeping with a dustpan and brush, and not even under the bed. They didn’t change the bedding, just remade it with the same week-old sheets. They aren’t serving breakfast yet, but are still charging for it. It stinks of urine, and I was absolutely disgusted. There were stains all over the carpet, walls and curtains, damp on the walls, a kettle plug that fell apart, and a fly under a tea cup. The bed lock didn’t work properly, so it took about 20 minutes to lock the door. I expected it to be clean and sanitised, especially after Covid, but it wasn’t. You’d probably catch everything here. I wouldn’t let an animal sleep in this place. I have photos and am going to report this further.
