For a last-minute booking a week before Reading Festival, the price was decent, considering the festival. It was only a 30-minute walk to the festival, and check-in was quick and professional. The room was clean and had towels and bedding, though a bit run down, with holes in the halls and cracking plaster. The bathroom was clean too, but only had half a roll of toilet paper, which we used up the first night. We asked the front desk to leave more in the room while we were out at the festival. When we got back at midnight, none had been delivered, which was difficult. We made it through the night and checked out the following morning. If you just need somewhere cheap to sleep, shower and store your belongings while going into Reading, this hotel was okay and I’d recommend it for that. If you’ll be spending more time in the room, I’d pay a bit extra and go elsewhere.

The shower was far too hot and I couldn’t regulate the temperature, so it was completely unusable. I’d already started trying to wash my hair when I discovered the hairdryer was broken too. I ended up sitting in a cold room with wet hair. I couldn’t afford an expensive hotel, but I did expect at least a warm shower and working appliances. A really bad experience.

The staff were lovely, and I felt fine leaving my car there for the whole weekend. I booked in a panic for Reading festival because I didn’t want to camp and everywhere else cost twice as much. The reviews had made me nervous, but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the small, modern bathroom was clean and everything worked. There was a kettle with mugs, tea, coffee and milk. My only gripe was having just one plug socket. I’d stay again for Reading Festival weekend.

The staff were really friendly. The room wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either.

I’ve stayed in plenty of bad hotels and B&Bs as a contractor, and this is one to avoid. The bed was really uncomfortable, and the hotel was disgusting. There wasn’t a remote for the TV, and the shower swung between scalding and freezing. Charging £5 a day for room service on top of that is just wrong. Spend a little more and get a decent room.
