The Bird In Hand

The staff made my stay, especially the reception team and managers. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help. A receptionist carried my heavy bags, helped with online orders being delivered to the hotel, found me a cable when I'd forgotten mine, and checked the bus stop information. The dinner waitresses were lovely and very accommodating with my allergies, as was the friendly breakfast receptionist. The hotel itself is really pretty, and the food is very nice. My room was spacious, though the toilet had dirty-looking stains even when clean, and the entrance light hasn't worked since I arrived, so it's been dark at times. Everything else in the room was fine, and the radiators worked well in winter. I've stayed here three times before and enjoy it in summer too, when the garden is lovely for drinks.

Our two small dogs were made very welcome, and the room was quiet at night. We were visiting family in Maidenhead for one night. The room was lovely, with thoughtful touches like real coffee instead of instant or a Nespresso machine. The staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stay again next time we're in Maidenhead.

Breakfast could have offered more choice, as the menu was quite limited. On the first morning we waited a very long time despite the restaurant being empty, and the cooked food arrived with the cereal, which was odd. The other two mornings were fine, with orders taken and brought quickly. Our room was excellent, nicely decorated with quality furniture and two comfortable beds. The ensuite bathroom had a good shower and bath, the Wi-Fi worked well, and parking was easy, with an on-site charging station for our car. Breakfast was good quality and cooked to order, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

The dinner and breakfast menus were varied and original, and the meals were delicious. Service was attentive, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The room was spotless. There wasn't a central light, which the age and style of the building wouldn't allow, but the small table lamps made up for it and suited its charm. Bird in Hand is conveniently set back from the A4, with plenty of parking. Its cheerful look was a welcome sight after a long, wet drive, and the warm welcome continued at reception. This was my first visit, but it certainly won't be my last. I'm looking forward to returning just after Christmas and trying the interesting cocktail menu.
