The food is pub classics, and there's a good spread of beers, including real ales. Friends who've stayed tell me the rooms are very comfortable. We got a warm, friendly welcome too. A good stop if you're travelling the Northallerton-Darlington road.

The place has lovely surroundings and a warm, welcoming feel. We ordered gammon with all the trimmings and chicken curry, and both came piping hot and tasted delicious. There's a good choice of dishes. We'll be back, thanks Chequers!

We loved how dog friendly it is, and the staff were so welcoming. Richard remembered us from our last stay. The room was clean throughout, with a modern bathroom, and the food was great both times we've been. Huge, tasty portions too. I had the chicken fajitas, yum, and the rice pudding was the best we've ever had. This was our second visit, and we'd definitely come again.

My family and I always come here for a meal, whether it's Sunday lunch or a teatime treat. The food is fresh and the portions are a good size. Everything felt very safe with the new rules and procedures in place, and the food was beautiful.

We were in the area for a wedding at the Croft hotel, about a mile away, and The Chequers was a more affordable place to stay. Richard and Aileen were very hospitable, and the breakfast was the best. Our bedroom, room 5, was fine, and the bed was comfortable.
