The Black A Moor Inn

The staff were friendly and quick to clear and wipe the tables after diners left. We enjoyed the Sunday roast, which was very good and reasonably priced. The portions were a bit too big for me, though I expect most people would be pleased. I only left a couple of roast potatoes, which was a pity because they tasted good and I don't like wasting food. We'll be back.

The food was a real highlight. Georgina's pizza had lovely toppings and sauce, light fluffy homemade dough, great fries and the best onion rings we've ever had. The three-course Sunday dinner was incredible too, with homemade yorkies, nicely seasoned vegetables, tender meat and proper homemade gravy. Kate even went out of her way to get sausages for our dog so he could eat with us. Kate and Callum gave us such a warm welcome and showed us to a beautiful little room. It was spotless and had everything we needed, including the lovely bonus of Yorkshire tea bags. Our dog fell for everyone, and they all seemed to love him too. We had food in the room one night and ate in the bar the next day. We arrived as strangers and left feeling like friends, with a lovely hug from Kate as we said goodbye. Well, see you later really, because we booked again as soon as we got home. Callum, you've got a great place here. We've loved every second, thank you!

Breakfast isn't included in the room rate, but we booked it and it was just right, with generous portions and plenty of choice, including vegetarian options. We had a warm welcome from the staff for our one-night stay, and were shown to a spotless, nicely presented room. It faced the road, but that didn't bother us. The bed was very comfortable and the room was lovely and warm on a cold evening. We spent a late evening in the bar and felt very welcome. There was decorating underway and new life being put into the rooms and pub, which I can only wish them well with. This was our second stay, and I understand there may be new management. All the best to them. We plan to return next year.

The staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom, effective heating, very comfortable beds and lovely soft bedding. The location is great and the view beautiful. We could hear some noise from other rooms and the restaurant, and the shower was a bit rubbish, but we still had a great stay.
