Breakfast was superb, cooked from fresh ingredients for the time we’d requested the night before and brought out as soon as we reached the breakfast room. No hanging about. The hosts were attentive and happy to offer advice about the area. We had a warm welcome, a wonderfully comfortable bed, a great shower and a warm room. Everything about this bed and breakfast felt faultless. We went for an autumn walk around Fountains Abbey, which was stunning, then returned to the homely warmth of The Old Coach House. We’ll definitely come back.

Our room was spacious and finished to a high standard, with a super king bed and a lovely courtyard view. Paying extra for the premier room was worth it. With only 8 rooms, it was very quiet and felt personal. Neil was welcoming from the moment we arrived and lovely to chat with. He gave us some useful suggestions, including the Millbank Arms for dinner, about 4 miles away in West Tanfield. It’s a cosy pub with a good range of food. We also found a quaint village grocery shop in West Tanfield for essentials. Breakfast was hot, plentiful and delicious, with a full English as well as cereals, fruit and toast. After I mentioned my cow’s milk allergy, there was even a little bottle of oat milk at our table. We’ve just come back from a really enjoyable stay at the Old Coach House. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, with the country feel we like. It’s an excellent base for walking and exploring, and the staff make it memorable. Thanks so much x ❣️🌸❣️

I only wish we’d stayed longer. The Old Coach House is a gorgeous B&B in the Yorkshire Dales, with fabulous rooms where every detail seems to have been considered to make guests feel welcome. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.

Breakfast was delicious and high quality, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend this B&B if I’m in the area. The hosts were welcoming throughout and communicated really well from the time we booked. We had a premier double and a deluxe double. Both were cosy and similarly finished, though the premier had more space and a few extra goodies. Its shower was over the bath, while the deluxe had a separate shower cubicle, which I prefer. The setting is lovely too.

After a day at Fountains Abbey in April, we found a place here at short notice. It was a brisk, cold day, but the room was cosy, possibly with heated floors if I remember right. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice and made to order. A perfect stop on our way north, and I’d stay again if I were nearby.
