Roydon Marina Village

The café salad was fresh and nice, and the service was friendly. The location by the canal and marina is picturesque. Rooms are clean and decent, though basic, which suits me. Update: I stayed again recently. This time the room was spacious and very nice, with updates and a great shower. Very good value for money.

I was there for 18 minutes to collect a wedding party and got charged £100. I parked by the lodge and didn't use a space in the car park. Apparently there are signs warning about the charge, but surely drop-offs and pick-ups should be allowed for? Reception wouldn't cancel the ticket, which put a grey cloud over the trip. Lesson learned the expensive way.

Sonia stepped in and sorted things straight away on the few occasions I had an issue, which says a lot about the management team. Anyone can give good service when everything's sailing smoothly, excuse the pun. Anthony, Sonia, and the team have made this place something special. What was meant to be a two-week stay in one of the Pet Friendly Lodges in October 2025 stretched to ten weeks when we ran into complications with Land Registry while buying a house. My husband, our Cockerpoo, and I had a difficult time, but the lovely, clean lodge helped make it more bearable. The bed linen and towels were changed every week, and everyone, from reception to the grounds staff, was so friendly and helpful. Thank you to everyone at Roydon Marina Village for going above and beyond and helping us keep our sanity.
