Orchard House

The English breakfast was banging, and there were lots of extras to choose from too, like croissants, yoghurt and cornflakes. We loved our overnight stay here. The owners were warm and helpful, and the hotel’s charming decor has little antique porcelain figures dotted around. We’d booked the night because of plumbing problems at home. Pete is a retired construction plumber, and he gave us advice, then kindly came by to offer more help. In the room we had everything we needed, from hair gel, cotton pads and sanitary pads to tea, coffee and bottled water. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Royston or the nearby villages. 10/10.

The hosts made us feel welcome, and our room was roomy and comfortable. My brother and I stayed for one night, and it was handy being so close to the train station.

The family room has a mezzanine with extra beds. The rooms are nice, the location is great and the owners are lovely. I do wish the full English had been included in the price, but hey ho. My daughter fell down the stairs because of a fault in the handrail. To their credit, Tiggy and Pete replaced it the following morning. Given what happened, I would have liked them to offer us a discount.

We had a very pleasant two-night stay and would return if we’re in the area. It’s a quiet spot close to town, restaurants and the Railway Station. The hosts were welcoming, and the full English was one of the best B&B breakfasts we’ve had. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and good value.
