The spa was a lovely part of my visit, and there are several pubs and other places to explore nearby. I stayed in January and really enjoyed it. My room was spacious and clean, with a comfy bed and a lovely garden view. The bathroom was great too. The grounds and building are beautiful, and everyone on staff was welcoming and worked hard to make guests feel looked after. I’d happily come back.

We spent Christmas 2025 at Flackley Ash Hotel after finding it online. There were three adults in our group, and we had two adjoining superior rooms. The festive programme was well thought out and smoothly run, and the magician was brilliant. The food was superb throughout, with an interesting menu, lots to choose from, and generous portions. Service was flawless, with friendly, courteous staff who were always happy to help. The hotel is close enough to Rye for a good Boxing Day walk, even with a brisk easterly wind. We also made use of the gym and indoor pool. We don’t have a dog, but the hotel welcomes them and the dogs and their owners we saw were well behaved. Cleanliness was consistently high, and there’s plenty of onsite parking. We’d gladly return.

The food was the main disappointment. The menu looked a little upscale and was priced accordingly, but what we had was very average to poor, with no seasoning and no salt or pepper on the table. Two tiny scoops of ice cream cost £8, and breakfast was nearly £4 for one hash brown. The pool itself was lovely, though it needs more places to sit or lounge, and the jacuzzi was out of order. Our room and the shared spaces were nice and very clean. The bed was comfortable, but we could have used a light by it. Staff were friendly and attentive, though nobody checked in to ask how things were or how our stay was going.

The pool and gym were fantastic, and we were really impressed with our spa treatments. We were here for my husband’s 40th and had such a good stay. Flackley Ash was a lovely find, with a comfortable, welcoming room, delicious food, and excellent service. The place was clean and cosy, and the staff were warm and attentive the whole time. Nothing felt like too much trouble. I’d recommend it to anyone after a welcoming country hotel with great service.

The only real snag for me is the Wi-Fi. I’m here for work, so some repeaters would help. The place itself is VERY good every time I come back. Staff at reception, the restaurant and Leisure are lovely. The pool’s one of those rare deep ones, so it’s not for kids. I love staying here.
