The food was great, and we had a wonderful afternoon. The King’s Head Inn looked after our group of 14 so well today. Even with so many orders and requests, the staff were friendly, attentive and really lovely. Thank you very much!

I chose the beach hut room for a solo one-night stay. It’s small, but plenty big enough for one, and nicely presented and super clean. The double bed was comfy, the shower was good, and there were facilities for making tea and coffee. The pub was good too, with well-kept beer and a very nice burger. Staff were friendly and keen to please. A tasty breakfast with plenty of choice finished off a very acceptable stay. Thanks.

Service was poor, which was a shame after several visits when it had always been good. We had to send back the prawn cocktail because it was warm and the prawns smelled very strong. They took it back but didn’t offer a replacement or another option. The roast was slow-roasted beef, but it came out dry. I like crispy roast potatoes, but these were overcooked and had no centres. Be careful if you have allergies: they didn’t ask us when we arrived, and when we checked whether the vegetables had butter, one staff member said yes and another said no. That doesn’t inspire much confidence. Our Mother’s Day treat didn’t feel like much of a treat. It made Toby Carvery look like a Michelin-star restaurant.

The King’s Head Inn in Rye has the feel of a traditional coaching inn, with a warm atmosphere and delicious food. The rooms were cozy and spotless, and my recent visit was made especially memorable by Amy and Taylor. Amy’s genuine warmth and attention to detail made me feel like a regular right away. She seemed to anticipate what I needed and kept everything running smoothly with a smile. Taylor was just as impressive, friendly and professional. From local recommendations to making sure my meals and drinks were right, Taylor showed real care for guests. It’s a gem, and Amy and Taylor are a credit to the inn and the heart of its service. If you’re visiting Rye, make sure to say hello to them. I can’t wait to return!

The menu had plenty of options, and we all enjoyed the Sunday lunch atmosphere. My fish and chips were fine, though a little greasy, while everyone else was happy with their meals. It gets busy at weekends, so book a table ahead.
