We had a lovely room for our weekend stay, with a garden and free parking as part of the suite. The hotel goes back to the 1600s, and some original features are still there. Reception showed us around and shared the building’s history over a very nice whiskey. The towels were fluffy, and there’s a huge range of toiletries available on request. Breakfast looked great, though we were meeting family for breakfast at the coy club. Would highly recommend.

The friendly reception team were helpful, and the bar felt cosy and nicely put together. Our ground floor classic king room was clean and tidy, with a very nice bathroom. It was a little smaller than I expected and had no view, but felt fair for the price. Breakfast was buffet style, with eggs cooked how you like them. I wasn’t keen on the chewy sausage skins, but the meal was just about worth it, and the service was very good. Parking behind the hotel fits about six cars, first come, first served. There are car parks close by too. I’m glad I didn’t let some of the reviews put me off.

The bedding was lovely and clean, though it felt very cheap and wasn’t nice against the skin. The hotel itself was clean and lovely, but the room got cold without the heating. The heater is high on the wall and has a really bright light, so we had to switch it off at night to sleep properly. When I woke up, the room was only 12°.

The staff were so kind and lovely, and gave us great dinner suggestions plus lots of help planning things to do during the day. Our room was small but fine, with lovely little details. The floor squeaked and was a bit uneven, but to me that’s part of the special charm of a historic building. It was very clean, too. My only tiny complaint after such a fantastic stay is that the breakfast area could have been a little brighter.

The breakfast was a good choice, and the hot food was excellent. The chef was very obliging, and the gentleman serving breakfast shared plenty of information about local history. The hotel is ideally placed for Salisbury centre.
