The staff were pleasant the whole time, and I’ve stayed here plenty of times over the years because it’s the nearest hotel to my family on the island. This visit was three nights, 26-29 December, in a first-floor Premier Plus room above the restaurant. I’d never tried one before and mainly wanted the stronger WiFi, since mobile reception is practically nonexistent here. The mini fridge was useful for keeping proper milk for tea, though otherwise the room didn’t feel much different from a standard one. The biggest drawback was the smell from the kitchen. Cooked breakfast drifted into the room from around 6:30 and lingered most of the morning. It gave me a headache. The windows don’t open, so you’re relying on the air conditioning, and breathing in that greasy smell wasn’t pleasant. I caught a cold on the third night and suspect the lack of fresh ventilation may have contributed. Breakfast was available all-you-can-eat each morning and was fine, if unremarkable. I’d skip dinner here: the evening menu is very limited, and the pub across the road has much more choice. The hotel’s quieter section didn’t prevent the breakfast smell from being an issue. Worth considering when you book.

I was here for three work nights and slept very well without hearing any noise. The staff were great, the room was clean, and the duvet felt brand new, really thick and plump. I’d ask to stay here again if work brings me back to the area.

The room was clean and quiet enough that I slept well during my two-night stay at the end of September. I skipped breakfast because I don’t like greasy food, and the smell of it in reception put me off too. Aside from that, it was a great stay. Everyone I met was lovely, especially the night receptionist, a very helpful man whose name I didn’t catch. He sorted extra towels and anything else I needed. Thanks, Premier Inn, I’d recommend it.

The kitchen smell was the first thing that disrupted us. At 6:30 both mornings, strong greasy cooking odours came through the bathroom vent and woke us up. We were in Room 102 for two nights and three days in a Premier Plus room, but it wasn’t up to the standard we usually find at Premier Inns. The room wasn’t very clean: there were long hairs on the fridge handle. We had only one hand towel for two people, both shower gel dispensers were empty, and the spare toilet roll had just one other roll with about five sheets left. We asked for these things to be fixed. We got only a dribble of shower gel, which ran out after one use, and still no second towel. The fridge was warmer than the room, so the milk we bought spoiled overnight. We’re usually happy, frequent Premier Inn customers, but this stay was a disappointment.

Waqar at the front desk made my first work trip to the Isle much less stressful than I’d expected. I arrived feeling apprehensive, and he quickly found solutions, went out of his way to make sure both the hotel stay and my experience of the Isle were positive. I can’t thank him enough. I wish customer service like that were more common. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and I appreciated the care I received. Five stars. Thank you, Waqar.
