The pub had a lovely atmosphere, with two log fires going, and the service was just as good as the food. There was a good choice, generous portions, and the meat was particularly well cooked and good quality. The only small drawback was how cold the women’s toilets were, though it was a very cold day when we visited. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch.

Room 1 was brilliant, and breakfast was excellent. This is an old-world pub, restaurant and hotel right in the centre of Sedbergh. I didn’t have dinner there because I was at a party elsewhere. The room was expensive for one Saturday night at £200, and drinks were pricey too, though in line with other places in Sedbergh.

I eat a lot of steak while travelling for work, and the sirloin here was exquisite. The food was unreal, the service impeccable, and the warm, fluffy sticky toffee pudding was just sweet enough. Highly recommend.

Stopped in for lunch on Tuesday, 9th Sept. 2025. The bar service was great, and the young woman serving gave me brilliant cycling directions to Pendragon Castle. She covered general directions, possible road closures, turn-offs, cattle grids, a reference to Fat Lamb?, and the side road called Tommy Road. Seems like a great place.

I've stayed over once, in 2023, and it was very comfortable. I also visit regularly for drinks and have eaten here many times. The lunchtime sandwiches are generous, and the beef is cooked perfectly. I've had calamari, steaks and Sunday roasts in the evening, all beautiful. Food, drinks and service are always on point. Carol and Brian, along with the rest of the team, are amazing. Great place.
