We left within half an hour of arriving. The toilet was coming away from the floor, the bathroom smelled of urine and had damp on the ceiling and walls. The bed made an awful noise every time you moved. Couldn’t stay there.

The room felt tired, which is a shame because it could probably be freshened up with £20 of materials and an hour’s work. The bed linen and towels were clean, though. The bathroom was tatty, with mould in the shower and taps that needed descaling. We ate in the pub and found the staff friendly, the prices reasonable and the food OK. There was no surcharge, despite what another post had reported. The in-house music and Sports TV were competing with each other. We arrived late on Tuesday afternoon, and the language in the bar was pretty colorful. That wasn’t the pub’s fault, of course, but bear it in mind if you’re bringing children.

The sheets and towels were clean, but that was about the only positive. The rooms were basic, and the mattress and pillows were paper thin. The hallways and pub felt really run down. The steps up to the rooms were steep, with no handrails, so they’re no good for less able people. We stayed one night after our trip to Longleat and went elsewhere for dinner. There was no breakfast provided. It’s a tired old pub and inn, and I wouldn’t stay again.

The £100 parking fine left a sour note at the end of our trip. We were paying customers who stayed and ate there, but at Glastonbury festival the car park was full of Campervan and no signs were visible. There were no signs when we entered or inside saying that parking had to be paid for, so we had no idea we’d done anything wrong. I tried calling and got no answer. Really poor and petty behaviour from the highwayman. I wouldn’t recommend it. Shame on you.
