The Two Lifeboats

The roast was one of the best we've had: tender pink beef, a huge Yorkshire, crispy vegetables and delicious gravy. We dropped into the Two Lifeboats by chance one Sunday, without booking, and were pleasantly welcomed, seated and served quickly for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and efficient, the beer was excellent, and they were SO dog friendly. They brought our shepherd cross a bowl of water and then some dog biscuits.

They welcomed us at the door and let us choose a table with our dog, even though we hadn't booked. The dog got fresh water and treats too. We had one roast pork dinner and one chicken madras, and both the food and service were really good. We arrived fairly early for lunch, so it wasn't too busy, though there were plenty of staff around. We'd certainly go again. Thank you.

The children's fish fingers and chips went down very well, and the chili con carne had great flavour. I'd have preferred plain lightly salted tortilla chips with it, though that's just my personal preference. The fish and chips were good too. We came for lunch as a family of five and were able to book a table for later the same day, which was handy. It was busy and service was a little slow, but some of the staff were thoughtful and helpful, and overall the service was good.

The duo of pies was especially delightful, and the portions were generous. There were three of us for lunch today, with excellent service and food served piping hot. The sea and sky were beautifully blue just outside too.
