For us, the room was perfectly adequate. We like somewhere good value where we can sleep and leave our bags while we’re out sightseeing and shopping all day. If we travelled this way again, I’d stay here. We were there for one night, and the room had everything we needed, including an ironing board and iron. The power shower was good, though the head could use replacing. The bathroom door didn’t close properly, but it wasn’t really an issue for me and the Mrs. The location sits between the prison, train station and castle, all just a few minutes’ walk away, with the town centre about five minutes away. We enjoyed the stay. Thanks.

Parking nearby was cheap, and the room was clean with friendly staff and good value. We didn’t get a chance to have a drink there, but the place looked busy enough, which is always a good sign.

I was only there for one night, but it was fine. The landlord was friendly and helpful, and I slept decently in a comfortable double bed with plenty of pillows.

A proper old fashioned pub, with good beers and a relaxed atmosphere.

Check-in and check-out were easy, the staff seemed nice, and the price was reasonable. The location is handy for everything on foot, including the town centre, castle and prison. The bar had a lively feel without getting rowdy, and things stopped at midnight so we could sleep. Our room was a good size, a little dusty but not dirty, and the beds were comfortable. The two singles were so close together they may as well have been one double. We were unlucky to get a top-floor room. The stairs are a real challenge, especially with a suitcase, so this place won’t suit anyone with mobility issues. Our bathroom was small, making it awkward to get dry and dressed, and the two steps into the shower felt a bit like a death trap when wet. Our friend’s room had a much bigger bathroom, where changing wasn’t a problem, so it depends on the room you get.
