The staff were very helpful, but that was the only good part. We booked two nights, one before and one after a European holiday. At terminal 3, the taxi driver said TFL wanted to charge a fixed £95 because the hotel was on the wrong side of M25, so use Uber or Bolt. The room before our trip was tired and badly needed attention. The shower head was hanging off the wall, the bathroom floor was dirty, and the electrics looked somewhat unsafe. After we got back from Europe, the second room was worse. It had one double plug that looked as if it had overheated, and the ensuite was a joke, with the toilet tucked behind the sink. The shower cubicle was dirty, with a stained curtain and no cover over the extremely dirty drain hole. The vent was just a hole in the ceiling.

I had room 5, and noise came from several directions. Planes could be heard from 6am to 10pm. All night, an audible plumbing or water pump kept switching on and off about every 10 minutes, while refrigeration or cooling systems in the room underneath made a continuous hum.

It’s handy for the airport and major bus routes, and the historic building is cute. The staff were personable, and the Italian restaurant did delicious pizza and beers. The rooms are tiny and outdated, with beds too small for couples, and some are falling apart and need work. Wifi is limited in some rooms, they get very hot in summer, and loud planes are constantly overhead. If you want somewhere cheap near the airport, it’ll do. For a comfortable stay in a beautiful property, this isn’t the place.

That Italian restaurant downstairs is TO DIE FOR, and the place feels welcoming all around. Colnbrook Lodge is cozy and comfortable, with great value and convenience. You do hear some planes, but staying a few bus stops from Heathrow comes with that. With my window closed, the noise didn’t bother me at all.
