Security felt thorough: the room key card also opened the lift and doors beyond the lobby. We booked a double room, and the only real nuisance in it was a toilet vent that whistled constantly and could still be heard with the door shut. The hotel is opposite the port, around a 10-15 minute walk away, and the town centre is 5-10 minutes on foot. Parking cost £12 for hotel guests. The train station and titanic museum are just a stone's throw away. Otherwise, it was a great hotel stay in a handy location.

The woman who checked us in was really polite and friendly, which made for a welcoming arrival. Breakfast had a good choice, and Alfi looked after us brilliantly, happy, polite and very helpful. A real credit to the hotel. The place was clean and nice.

Cathy is the reason for the five stars. She welcomed us when we arrived with our newborn and was so kind, genuine and warm. She's a credit to the company, and on her own would be reason enough for us to return. The rest of the stay was great too, and we will definitely be back.

The central location made it easy to get out and do all sorts of things, and the price felt fair for what we got. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and nice, though it could do with renovation. It was a very pleasant stay at the Novotel Southampton.

They made sure we could check in early, which was really convenient. The staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel was well maintained. Breakfast was decent. It's about a 10-minute walk to West Quay mall and High Street, and roughly the same to the old town and walls. McDonalds is right next door for a late-night meal. Overnight parking costs £12. Lovely stay in Southampton, highly recommended.
