Woodlands Hotel

A pleasant place to stay in a lovely old style building. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the breakfast area is nice and clean too, with continental and full English options. Staff are friendly, helpful and willing to lend a hand. It’s an easy walk to shops, banks, cafes, pubs and restaurants, and about 10 minutes from the bus and train station, which connect to other larger towns or cities. There’s plenty to explore in town, including river taxis in summer. Worth a visit.

We had a great Christmas party night last night. The food and service were first class, and there was plenty to eat with generous portions. Couldn’t fault it. I’d definitely recommend the Woodlands.

I’ve been staying at Woodlands Hotel for a while. It may not be the newest or most modern hotel around, but the staff, service and hospitality are honestly 10/10. Rooms are cleaned every day, and towels and bedding are changed daily. It’s a perfectly quiet place if you work days and need to sleep at night.

We held my mum’s funeral wake at The Woodlands Hotel, and Gan and his team made a very difficult, sad occasion easier to bear. Before booking, I contacted several venues in Spalding, but none were as flexible and accommodating. We could visit beforehand, and Gan talked through the arrangements with us and listened to what we needed. The room wasn’t booked for a set number of hours, which meant the day felt relaxed and we weren’t worrying about having to leave by a certain time. When we arrived from the cemetery, our guests had been welcomed, seated and offered tea or coffee, or shown to the bar. The food was freshly cooked and the buffet was served soon after we got there. I didn’t eat much, but lots of people told me how lovely the food was and how welcome they’d felt. The room looked beautiful, with round tables and crisp white tablecloths, and the doors were open onto the patio so people could sit outside too. Many thanks to Gan and his friendly, welcoming staff.
