The Pier House

The staff were so lovely and welcoming, and treated our dog like royalty, as he is 😆. It was a really dog-friendly place to stay, with a nicely decorated room. Dinner and breakfast were both really good. It was quite busy for January, so clearly popular, but the staff seemed happy rather than overwhelmed, and service was very efficient. We had such a good trip and would definitely recommend coming back. Cheers to everyone at The Pier house 🌟

We had a generous Sunday roast for dinner after our 10-mile hike, and lunch here another day. Breakfast offered a good choice and generous portions, and all the staff were amazing. Our premier sea view room was fantastic, with lovely views and a very comfortable bed with nice linen. The shower was huge, with strong pressure and plenty of hot water. There were lots of thoughtful extras: bathroom lights that come on automatically, toiletries, dry robes to borrow for the beach, a Nespresso machine, iron and board, tea, coffee and biscuits, a minibar, touch-control heating and air con, fluffy towels and dressing gowns. We couldn’t fault a thing, and we’re fussy! We’d just stayed at the Pier House for our anniversary and will be back soon.

The staff were engaging, the food was good quality, and the venue and location are ace. The rooms have been updated to a fantastic standard since the fire, though a few fixtures were already broken. It was cold and windy during our long weekend, and the snug was draughty and chilly. I kept asking for the fire to be lit or kept going, but after messaging the bar and reception through the evening, I was eventually told it was too late to light it. Just a few service snags to watch and some fixtures and fittings that need better upkeep.

Room 2 is amazing, and the sound of waves is what you fall asleep and wake up to. The view is the best, the staff are the best, and the food is fresh and proper. Absolutely worth it. One hint: honestly, don’t spend the time and money visiting eden project.
