We stayed from 5/12/25 until Sunday morning 7/12/25. It was our first visit and will definitely be our last. The staff were the only positive, though really it was just two people. The receptionist was brilliant, looking after other guests and running the bar, while the other person cooked and served. In our opinion, a hotel this size shouldn't be run by only two people, and it was the same on Saturday night. The food was tasty and nicely cooked, so well done to the person who made it. Our room smelled, was dirty, and looked unkempt. On Sunday morning, with a 3-hour drive home, we couldn't shower or shave because there was no hot water. Dogs were barking and kids running up and down the corridor. The staff seemed overworked, and the whole place needs a good clean. We didn't complain about the hot water, dogs, or kids because the few staff already had enough to deal with.

The noise was the other big problem. People gathered outside the shops on the ground floor to smoke and chat, and it carried up to the rooms. The entrance doors were left on the latch, so anyone could get into the corridors and lifts. Staff were polite, though they seemed stressed and sometimes short on information. I stay in Travelodges and Premier Inns often enough to know what to expect. This one felt tired and needed attention, and there were telltale marks in corners that hadn't been properly cleaned. During our stay the shower drain failed and flooded the bathroom. I can't say whether poor cleaning caused it, but reception fixed it quickly once I reported it. Still, this wasn't one of my better Travelodge stays, and I won't rush back.

The staff were excellent, and the place looks well cared for. The room was tidy and clean, with comfortable beds, and the small bar is a nice extra. Happy hour gets you a pint of Stella for £3.50. There's plenty of parking, plus KFC and McDonald's nearby if the food on site doesn't appeal, though it looked good.

We are still waiting for the £50 refund the receptionist promised after we complained. Room 110 was smelly and not properly clean, so we were moved to 115, and she said she would refund us £50. We raised the other problems at reception too, but no one seemed to care. At first they gave us a dirty room. The next day we put the sign outside asking for the room to be cleaned, but nobody came, which was ridiculous. I never expected this. I hope you reply.

We tried the Travelodge in St. Austell because our usual B&B was busy. Never again. The bath was dirty, there were marks on the walls, and the TV signal kept coming and going. We went across the car park to Nile’s for breakfast instead. It was fantastic and cheaper; the Travelodge eggs looked like rubber and seemed to have been under the heat for goodness knows how long. Sorry, it isn't for us. The guy at reception was friendly, though.
