We weren’t staying overnight, just nearby, but the place looked appealing so we came in for a meal. The food was authentic and cooked perfectly, and I’d definitely return. I also appreciated that it’s a family-run business rather than part of a large chain. The owner said they bought the place in January 2025 and are working to revive the brand. After trying several chefs, they feel they’ve found the right one. The bar and restaurant were warm, welcoming and impeccably clean, possibly the cleanest place I saw during my brief visit to St Ives.

A peaceful spot for a relaxed meal, and a real hidden gem. My Sunday roast was beautifully cooked and great value at just £15. I had the tender lamb, delicious roast potatoes and a generous serving of vegetables. Service was excellent, warm and hospitable, and the recently new chef clearly takes pride in the food. I highly recommend coming for dinner or Sunday lunch. You can stay overnight too, and if you’re travelling in a campervan, you can park for free and pop in for a drink or meal.

The roast was top notch, cooked to perfection. I had chicken and my Mrs had lamb. Great atmosphere, good music and lovely staff. Had a fantastic meal at the Balnoon pub/restaurant today. Would highly recommend!

Avoid this place. During winter they turn the radiators off and unplug them, apparently because they’re too tight. Then they threaten to kick you out if you bring your own heater, with some bullshit claim that it invalidates their insurance. They’re just tight. The pub was cold too, and the car park was empty. I don’t think they even want customers. Our room had a broken window, and despite having been there a year, they said it wasn’t their fault. Seems they just can’t be bothered to fix it. If they didn’t want to run a hotel properly, they shouldn’t have taken it on.

We found the Balnoon Inn at the last minute while looking for somewhere to stay, and were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. The rooms were bright, spacious and clean, with a lovely countryside view. The booking included a continental breakfast of cereal and baked goods. The owners were very hospitable and did all they could to make our stay pleasant. Its location is ideal for visiting St. Ives and the surrounding area. I’d book the Balnoon Inn again if I’m nearby, and completely recommend it as a very nice place to stay.
