Una, Lodge 77

We had a relaxing week in Carbis Bay with our big family group, including two small children. The farmhouse and annexe gave us plenty of space, and the large kitchen was great. We appreciated the welcome cream tea, and the slightly tired decor was still fine for a family stay. With little ones, there are a few things to keep in mind. The farmhouse has steep stairs and lots of doors, so we used rocks from the garden as doorstops. The beach is about a 20-25 minute walk away, but the climb back is very steep, so driving and parking is easier with small children. There’s parking at the station and at a church on the way down. The annexe shower room and toilet were adequate, though we didn’t like that the door opened onto the kitchen. Its blinds were difficult to open and close and need replacing. The owners were easy to contact and came round quickly when we had a problem with one of the key boxes. One suggestion: we drove to the park and ride at St Erth and took the train to St. Ives. It was a lovely trip.
