Borthalan Hotel - Guest House

The hosts, Martin and Margaret, were friendly and helpful, with plenty of good advice about places to visit. Carbis Bay beach is about a ten-minute walk away, and the little station is five minutes on foot, with a one-stop train to St Ives for a couple of pounds. Our deluxe room had a great bathroom, an amazing shower, and a view that really impressed us. Everything was spotlessly clean, breakfast was lovely, and this is the best guest house I’ve stayed in. A brilliant place all round.

I was in the area for a wedding at Carbis Bay Hotel, and staying at Borthalan House worked out perfectly. The beach is only a few minutes away, and Carbis Bay station is convenient if you arrive by train or want to go into St Ives. Margaret and Martin looked after me so well. My room was spacious and clean, and I enjoyed the delicious breakfast each day. I’ve just left after a wonderful stay and couldn’t recommend it more.

We had such a brilliant time in this beautiful part of England, and Borthalan House made it even better. Martin and Margaret were lovely, welcoming hosts, and made us feel valued. Martin’s sense of humour was a highlight. The rooms were cleaned daily and the breakfasts were fab. A couple of possible additions: tomatoes or hash browns on the breakfast menu, and perhaps a light by the roadside entrance. Still five stars from me.

Margaret and Martin made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They were incredibly kind, and we had a comfortable, fabulous stay. Breakfast was perfect and made to order. We missed out on the larger rooms because they were already booked, so hopefully we’ll be quicker to reserve one next time. We’d highly recommend staying here.
