Stonehouse Court Hotel - A Bespoke Hotel

We stayed for my wife's birthday, and the restaurant manager kindly arranged a small cake for her. We had checked while booking whether that could be arranged, so it was disappointing that another staff member made us feel awkward for asking. I appreciated the manager's help, and the hotel also let us check in late after acknowledging the staff's difficulty serving food on time. The room was okay, but service varied depending on who we dealt with. Some staff were excellent, while others made us feel odd whenever we asked for something, especially in the restaurant. Breakfast took almost 45 minutes to arrive after we ordered. It was an average stay.

The food was just as good as I remembered. We had a private room for a family celebration, and although they seemed a little short-staffed, once the plates were cleared we didn't get much attention. When we were ready to order drinks, we went to find a staff member and they were happy to take our order.

The bathroom was clean and good, but the rest of the stay was a very poor experience. Our room was freezing when we arrived because all the radiators were off. The garden room felt tiny and had no soundproofing at all. Breakfast was very poor too, and the "bacon" was inedible. We drove past the entrance twice because the outdoor sign wasn't lit. It's a shame, as this place could be very nice with some investment. I wouldn't visit again.

The beer came out warm and bitter, the service was worse than the food, and the food itself was awful. Mine had less seasoning than plain boiled rice. Outside was nice, but there was silicon everywhere, and the lamp in my room was practically hanging out of the wall. The staff need more training. Atrocious job, must be having a laugh. I spent my time writing this to show just how dissatisfied I am with this establishment. I should've gone to the chippy instead. If I could give zero stars, I would.
