Highland Hotel

The cold weather made the stay less comfortable than it could have been, since the heating in our bedroom and the public rooms wasn’t enough. The single-glazed sash windows may be difficult to replace, perhaps because of a preservation order, but warm clothes would help if you visit in winter. We spent four nights here over Christmas. The bedroom was comfortable and well looked after, the food was excellent, and the management and staff were outstanding. The building is beautiful inside and out, though the rear entrance lets it down. We’ll come back when it’s warmer.

There are lovely walks close by, and the grounds are great for dogs. We requested a ground-floor room and the friendly receptionist arranged one for us. It was spotless, warm and comfortable, like the rest of the hotel. Every meal was exceptionally good, with vegan choices for all courses. A brilliant spot for a holiday or short break.

The bathroom was modern and the shower was good, and our room was really clean. The staff were lovely, especially Marley. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. I had a great time and would definitely stay again.

The food, location and evening entertainment were all great, and the staff were polite and efficient. We had a winter stay and found the room warm and a good size. We really liked the hotel and will be back. Excellent all round.
