Ben Wyvis Hotel

The shower was a proper shower, with plenty of hot water, rather than the dribble you get in some places. Breakfast was good and made to order, and the hotel was clean with very friendly, polite staff. The door let in a little light, probably understandable in a building of its age, but it didn’t affect my good night’s sleep.

After Storm Amy hit, we needed somewhere at the last minute and they were very accommodating. The rooms were good and quite spacious, and the bathroom had been renovated. Both dinner and breakfast were good, though I’d have liked a bit more variety on the dinner menu.

We left a night early because the stay was so uncomfortable. The staff were really nice, and the food was okay, though a bit like dinner at school. But the place is very dated, and the mattress in our refurbished room was small and hideously uncomfortable. The room seemed fine at first, then I pulled out the bed to plug in my phone and found it really dirty. There was hair and dirty hankies under the bed, presumably left by some of the bus parties and one-night groups the hotel seems to cater to. It’s a pity. I wouldn’t bother booking here; it felt like a waste of money.

The location is beautiful, and being dog friendly is a massive bonus for me. The rooms were really clean and well presented, and the reception staff were amazing, nothing was an issue for them. Such a lovely hotel. I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever up this way again 🩷
